The Ventura County Star newspaper published an article on their website entitled "Ojai 'School to the Stars' uses Web to teach athletes, actors" about Laurels Springs' distance learning model and why it's especially well suited to young professional actors and athletes. The article includes some specific program and tuition details, and quotes several familiar office personalities!
[School spokeswoman Amber Walker] said about 95 percent of seniors who go on to college are accepted by their schools of choice. Alumni have gone on to prestigious universities such as Yale, Vassar and Harvard.
Administration Director Tom Edwards, however, said it takes discipline and motivation to succeed in a distance learning school.
“This is not for everybody,” Edwards said. “A lot of athletes and actors come to us because they already have that discipline. They know what they want and they want to graduate early and they want to do their school and pursue their passion at the same time.”
