Working with each student’s unique learning style is transformative for students whose needs may not met by traditional schools. These assessment programs and services give parents and teachers a road map to support the student’s academic growth, talents, interests, learning personality and dreams for the future.

Learning Style Profile
Laurel Springs assesses five aspects of learning style: disposition, modality, interests, talents and preferred environment. The profile helps parents better understand their child’s blueprint for learning and offers helpful study tips and techniques. By understanding their child’s learning style, parents can help their children excel not only in school, but in life. A more in-depth interpretation is available for an additional fee. Free with each child's enrollment.

Standardized testing
The National Norm-Referenced Standardized Assessment is administered to Laurel Springs students in 4th through 11th grade. It provides valuable information about the student’s academic progress in language arts and mathematics. Free with each child's enrollment (full time, full year enrollments only)

diagnostic assessment
Diagnostic assessments are designed to provide parents, students and teachers with specific information about what skills the student has and has not mastered. The results empower parents and teachers to pinpoint, assign and review those areas the student must master before moving on
to more complex materials. Free with each child's enrollment

Customization Services
Customization is a program that enables our teachers to develop a learning plan that is aligned to students’ specific goals and learning styles. Customization can be beneficial for remediation or enrichment, incorporating interests and research areas, fulfilling special college entry requirements, and incorporating resources such as travel and career. If your child usually finds courses too easy or too difficult, customization might be a good strategy to get learning back on track. Customized
learning programs require ample and extensive parental involvement. Call for fees and information.

Personalizing a course lesson:
Personalizing a lesson usually happens within a lesson; customization takes on altering the whole course. One-to-one teaching enables our teachers to modify the pace or focus of the lesson to serve the child as the need arises. Learning objectives and standards for the course are still reached through assessment. Student interests, strengths, challenges, long-term goals or learning style lessons. Options may be to personalize the activity, adjust content to accommodate student interest, adjust evidences of learning or personalize the enrichment of a lesson. (As much as one-quarter of the lesson may be personalized.) No extra fees apply to personalizing a course lesson.
Customization of a course:
Fully customizing a course involves a more extensive alteration to a course. Learning objectives and standards are still met but a course can be significantly altered to accommodate a student's needs. An extra fee is charged for customizing a course. Laurel Springs has two levels of customization; speak with your Enrollment Advisor regarding fees. Also additional fees may be required if a curricular source other than Laurel Springs School is used. Customization Pricing
LEVEL 1 Customization occurs when more than one-quarter of a Laurel Springs course is altered to meet the needs of the student or when an alternate curricular source is used. It includes an initial one-hour phone consultation with a Learning Success Coach, who will provide a Learning Style Profile interpretation and create an academic learning plan with recommended materials.
LEVEL 2 Customization occurs when extensive original curriculum creation is required. It includes two to three hours of phone consultations with a Learning Success Coach during which you will receive a Learning Style Profile interpretation and the creation of a comprehensive academic learning plan with recommended materials.
All customized learning programs require ample and extensive parental involvement. Please ask your Enrollment Advisor about our customization options.
Extension Program
When do I need an extension?
Extensions are granted at the discretion of the Student Services Department, based on the extension policy and the student’s progress and academic standing as of their enrollment end date. They are intended for courses that are at least 2/3rds complete (through week 24 submitted for each full-year course and through week 12 submitted for each semester course). Laurel Springs grants only one extension per course. If eligible, an extension will allow the student an additional four months for each full-year course and an additional two months for each semester course. If not eligible, the family must re-enroll their student and pay tuition for the incomplete portion of the course(s).
For High School, each full-year course extension costs $190, and each semester course extension costs $100. For Elementary and Middle School, each full-year course extension costs $47.50, and each semester course extension costs $25. All fees are due at the time of extension.
Please contact Student Services to request an extension or send an email to extensions@laurelsprings.com if a student has not completed course work before the enrollment period is over.
When would I have to re-enroll in a course instead of getting an extension?
Re-enrollment is needed when the student has submitted less than the first 2/3rds of their course(s) by their enrollment end date. This requires that the incomplete portion be retaken and tuition fees paid again. However, the student will be allowed to continue from where they left off in the coursework.
Please contact your assigned Enrollment Advisor to request a re-enrollment.
