Changing Course Curriculum
If you choose to change the type of course your child is taking (e.g. online to textbook), or the subject matter being studied (e.g. chemistry to physics) in the first 45 days of enrollment, the full cost of the course being dropped will be credited towards the new course. However, you are required to return any materials for the original course. After 45 days of enrollment, a prorated credit will be applied towards the cost of the new course, based on the enrollment time in the original course.
Changing Course Length
If you choose to change the length of a course your child is taking from a semester to the full year in the first 45 days of enrollment, you will be charged the difference in tuition. After 45 days of enrollment, you will be required to re-enroll in the additional semester at the semester tuition price.
If you choose to change the length of a course your child is taking from the full year to a semester in the first 45 days of enrollment, you will be credited the difference in tuition. After 45 days of enrollment, there is no credit available and a withdrawal will be required once your child’s first semester grades have been submitted.
BOOK RETURNs
In order to provide quality learning materials, Laurel Springs School does not buyback books or other learning materials. An exception is made during the first 45 days from the enrollment start date for course changes as outlined under “Changing Course Curriculum” above.
Charity organizations and many educational facilities in your local area may be able to accept your kind donation of used materials. Also, Amazon and eBay are great options for resale of textbooks. Any materials returned to LSS will be donated.
NOTE: Due to changing costs, prices are subject to change without notice.
Policies
Enrollment and Course Period Policy
A full-time student is enrolled for 10 months; year-long academic courses are designed to be completed within that time. Your teachers will provide teacher services during the 10-month period from the date of enrollment. For one-semester enrollments, the enrollment period is for 5 months.
If sufficient progress has not been made, parents may arrange for a paid 4-month extension on a 10-month enrollment or a 2-month extension on a 5-month enrollment. In some cases, a full re-enrollment may be necessary. Please read our Extension Policy.
Full-Time Student Status Policy
Full-time students must carry at least 40 credits per year, with 30 of those in core courses. Semester students must carry at least 20 credits per semester, with 15 of those in core courses. The remaining credits may be earned in electives.
Attendance Policy
All students must make reasonable progress in their coursework. While students may make special arrangements with their teacher, students who have made no progress in a course for 60 days without prior arrangement may be withdrawn from that course by Laurel Springs School.
• After 15 days of no course activity the teacher will contact the
student.
• After 30 days of no course activity the LSS Attendance office
will follow up by phone and email.
• After 45 days of no course activity the family will be notified by
letter and phone.
• After 60 days of no course activity the family will be notified by
letter of withdrawal from the course by Customer Service.
• Withdrawal from a course may be appealed in writing to the
Director of Education.
Laurel Springs Agreement Statement
Laurel Springs Agreement Statement is intended to make our relationship with you clear and to set forth some of our policies that will govern that relationship. Laurel Springs School partners with you to provide educational services and support for each of our students. Your payment plan provides you with enrollment in an accredited school, choice of curriculum (books or online courses), and teacher service. Your fees pay for administration services, counseling options, education support services, ongoing customer service and maintenance of student records, evaluations and transcripts. Laurel Springs Agreement Statements are signed after enrollment begins with LSS.
Extension Policy
When do I need an extension?
Extensions are granted at the discretion of the Student Services Department, based on the extension policy and the student’s progress and academic standing as of their enrollment end date. They are intended for courses that are at least 2/3rds complete (through week 24 submitted for each full-year course and through week 12 submitted for each semester course). Laurel Springs grants only one extension per course. If eligible, an extension will allow the student an additional four months for each full-year course and an additional two months for each semester course. If not eligible, the family must re-enroll their student and pay tuition for the incomplete portion of the course(s).
For High School, each full-year course extension costs $190, and each semester course extension costs $100. For Elementary and Middle School, each full-year course extension costs $47.50, and each semester course extension costs $25. All fees are due at the time of extension.
Please contact Student Services to request an extension or send an email to extensions@laurelsprings.com if a student has not completed course work before the enrollment period is over.
When would I have to re-enroll in a course instead of getting an extension?
Re-enrollment is needed when the student has submitted less than the first 2/3rds of their course(s) by their enrollment end date. This requires that the incomplete portion be retaken and tuition fees paid again. However, the student will be allowed to continue from where they left off in the coursework. Please contact your assigned Enrollment Advisor to request a re-enrollment.

To that end, our teachers are caring, supportive, and they will help students find answers while clearly understanding their lessons. Our teachers and staff do not, however, support copying or plagiarizing the writings of others. Students who plagiarize the work of others will be asked to redo their work.
