The Difference is the Relationship
Attending a virtual school can be a lonely experience if you aren't connected to a community. At Laurel Springs we all work to connect our global community of distance learning students and help them build relationships.
Relationships are important to us so our teachers and staff members make it their goal to create relationships with each student and their family. The Laurel Springs staff and teachers take the time to nurture and develop relationships with families, making sure students are engaging with other Laurel Springs students, with local homeschoolers, and with their community.
We also provide the structure for our student and parent communities to connect with each other. We know from experience that it's hard to go it alone. Learning and sharing is the key to an exciting, challenging education. Families need support and friendship as they educate their children.
Laurel Springs students connect online through a virtual community hub called MyLaurelSprings where students around the world can create their own avatar, add friends, join school clubs, and create study groups. The parents of these distance learning students use this online community to engage with other Laurel Springs parents. Parents also enjoy our Family Center website.
We offer special interest clubs for high school and middle school students so they can build relationships as they pursue their interests. Our Creative Writing Club members designed their own magazine called Visions and Voices and our Music Club members worked together on creating a piece of music.
Students join together enthusiastically with the Laurel Springs Chapter of the National Honor Society. The Laurel Springs School Chapter of the National Honor Society recognizes outstanding scholastic achievements, character, leadership and service in our students and teachers.
At the end of the school year students come together in person at the annual Laurel Springs prom and graduation.
At Laurel Springs School, the difference is the relationship.
